Reading this reminded me of when I was stuck on a project for weeks and I convinced myself I just wasn’t “inspired.” Looking back, I see now that I was clinging to old routines and playing it way too safe. If I’d had this newsletter then, I think I would have broken through sooner. The way you lay out the blocks and the solutions makes it feel possible to shift. Like creativity is something we can all access by using the right keys. Loved this Idris Elijah and congrats on the Masterclass!!
You mentioning Blockbuster really hit- such a clear example of what happens when you cling to the “safe” solution instead of thinking creatively. It instantly made me think of how Netflix took the opposite route and completely redefined the space by leaning into bold, unconventional thinking. No more going to the video store on a Saturday night. Now we can stream our movies from home! That contrast brought the whole lesson to life for me. It’s such a powerful reminder that the riskier, more imaginative path is often the one that actually survives and thrives. Good stuff as always Idris!
The part about tapping into childlike wonder really resonated with me. Since becoming a parent, I’ve been constantly reminded of how powerful that perspective is. My daughter sees the world with such curiosity and freshness and it’s honestly taught me so much. Even my routines have shifted just from trying to keep up with her energy and questions. It’s wild how much creativity opens up when you’re forced to see things differently and stay present. This newsletter captured that perfectly. Thanks again Idris Elijah!
That’s so wonderful! I can only imagine being reminded of that childlike wonder through your own child. Powerful stuff that is. I’m pleased you found value in the newsletter. It’s always a pleasure. 🙃🙏🏾
I just wanted to say I loved this issue. Super relatable and full of little lightbulb moments. I’ve already taken action to step out of my routine and signed up for yoga class! I think it will help with creativity as well as mindfulness and consciousness. Your writing feels like a conversation with a wise friend who has lived through a lot of experiences. I appreciate how you keep things motivating without being overwhelming. Thank you Idris Elijah!
