I never thought to ask myself if my goals were threatening my identity. This is a powerful insight! I’m going to pick one goal and really dig into the story I’ve been telling myself about it. I’ve already been journaling each day as a result of reading your newsletter and it’s been such a big help! I’m going to also track my self-talk for a few days and see what patterns come up. Thank you Idris Elijah and enjoy your weekend!

I’ve read a lot about habits but this made me think about identity in a new way. What we say to ourselves has a huge effect on our progress towards achieving our goals. If you think you can do something, you’re right. If you think you can’t do something, then you’re also right. The identity-goal clash explains so much of the resistance I’ve felt at times. I’m committed to reworking some of those inner stories now. Great content Idris!

Today’s newsletter really opened my eyes to how automatic and negative my self-talk has been at times. I didn’t realize how often I tell myself what I’m not instead of all the wonderful things that I know I am. I wasn’t even questioning this self-talk! I needed to read this today, not just for myself but to make sure my daughter doesn’t fall into the same habit. I’m going to start noticing when I do negative self-talk and push back on that voice. A really great discussion today Idris Elijah!!

You’re not alone. Our self-talk is often negative but it’s not our fault. A lot of what we say to ourselves, our limiting beliefs, are not our own. I also admire how you not only take the information I share and apply it to yourself, but you always have a daughter in mind. Maria, you are an amazing mom. Kudos to you! 🤗

I’ve read about mindset before but I really connected with this newsletter. The way I talk to myself has been quietly shaping my actions and inactions. I agree with what Maria said about not even questioning the negative self-talk! It’s time to interrupt that loop and be more intentional with my inner voice. Reading this made me pause and actually listen to the story I’ve been repeating to myself every day. I’m grateful for the tools and clarity you shared here Idris Elijah!
